This is my new LongArm. It is a 22" Gammill Vision. I love the way it stitches. It was very hard for me to sell my Gammill Classic Plus, I used that machine for 14 years. It made a beautiful stitch. The new machine has a few stitch capabilities that my old Gammill did not have. I am still learning the new features. I now will be able to stop in the middle of quilting, I can thread paint more easily and this machine has a baste feature and you can tie off your threads.
I just came home from a retreat with Laura Wasilowski. Our Quilt Guild brought Laura in for speaking at our meetings and then a weekend retreat. What fun!!! There were about 40 of us. These are the start of three pieces. I will add more to each piece and also I will add hand stitching and a little embellishment.
I have just finished up a class with Lisa Call. The class is Working in a Series. OMG what a great teacher and a wonderful class. Lisa is nurturing, very giving of her knowledge, and very inspirational. The class format is wonderful, the critiques are informative, the emails are so full of informations and it is a treat to be introduced to 3 artists per week. Here are my projects for my series "Town Square"
A week ago I went with 2 friends to Jordan Ranch in Texas and took a Hand Dyeing class with Frieda Anderson. I think I hand dyed around 33-35 yards of fabric. We also did some discharging. Frieda is a wonderful teacher. Now maybe I will have a little more control over my colors, and hopefully produce more vibrant colors. Here is one of the discharged fabrics I worked on. I will post more pics of the fabric later. We also went to Cleveland Ohio to see our daughter graduate from Cleveland State University. We are so proud of Michelle, she graduated with top honors and was one of three highlighted students. I am taking a 10 week class with Lisa Call online. This class is Working in a Series. We are learning so much. We have lectures each week, reading material on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. We will be constructing 8 pieces of artwork. We have a conference call one a week for critiquing our pieces. I will post pictures later.
Just setting up my website, it is still definitely a work in progress. My intent is to be more active in posting my work and inspirations.
