My name is Debbie Ross; I have had a lifelong interest or is it an obsession with color and texture. I work in mixed media in the areas of art quilts, beadwork, wearable art, Shibori, and traditional quilts. Each piece represents my imagination and the world around me. The use of color dominates my work.
My interest in fiber arts started 40 years ago. For thirty years I lived in Missouri, and since 2005 in Oklahoma. My exposure has been vast and varied to fiber art.
I have studied with various artists across the country including but not limited to Sue Benner, Katie Pasquini Masopust, Grace Errea, Sharon Kilfoyle, Gloria Loughman , Lisa Call, Freida Anderson, and Laura Wasilowski .
My work has been juried into shows across the country including Road to California, AQS Des Moines and Knoxville, FiberWorks, PIQF and various machine quilting shows. I have been published in Designs in Machine Embroidery magazine and Unlimited Possibilities magazine. My work also appears in String Quilts by Elsie Campbell and Inspirations in Design for the Creative Quilter by Katie Pasquini Masopust. My work has also earned several awards including and not limited to “Best in Quilting” at FiberWorks 2011 in Tulsa, OK, and Judges Choice and 1st place art quilt- Green Country Quilt Show 2010.
My professional memberships include American Quilters Society (AQS), International Quilt Association (IQA), Fiber Artists of Oklahoma, Green Country Quilt Guild, Missouri Fiber Artist, Surface Design Association, Studio Art Quilt Associates, Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition, and Avant-Garde.
